All people have negative thoughts at different times. However, when suffering from depression, the person adopts a negative perspective on himself, on the environment that surrounds him and on the future. Depression passes through a filter of thoughts, distorting the perception of the person about himself and about the situations he is experiencing. The individual may experience thoughts that generate feelings of inferiority and inadequacy, affecting the person’s self-concept; since it is perceived as someone incapable of facing and overcoming obstacles. Likewise, they perceive the world as a hostile place, which can result in social isolation. And finally, they perceive the future as hopeless, which prevents them from seeing the temporality of the situation in which they find themselves and increases their demotivation.
